The Verizon Data Breach Report (DBIR) is arguably the best source of public information on trends on successful attacks—specifically data breaches. What you probably don’t know about the DBIR is VERIS, the common language used to describe security incidents in a precise way. VERIS is an acronym: Vocabulary for Event Recording and Incident Sharing.
